Vietnam-USA Shows Higher Imports and Exports In 2010

When Vietnam-USA Trade turnover reached USD $18.324 billion in 2010, it was not only higher than in the previous year by 19%, but also the highest figure ever recorded since the two countries established diplomatic ties with a total turnover of USD $451 million in 1995.

In addition, Vietnam imported USD $3.539 billion (up 7%) because Vietnam imported more machinery, mechanical equipment and spare parts (USD $393.7 million) and cotton, fibre and fabric (USD $254 million).

Also Vietnam exported USD $14.784 billion of goods to the USA (up 20%). Among Vietnam’s key export items to the USA, machinery and mechanical equipment and spare parts achieved the highest growth of 53 percent to US$621.2 million.

With its garments reaching USD $5.76 billion (up 15.2%), followed by timber products USD $1.82 billion, footwear USD $1.62 billion, electric equipment and audio products USD $778.6 million, and seafood USD $646.4 million, Vietnam was ranked 27 amongst the USA’s 221 exporters (by The USA International Trade Commission).
